  5. There is a rumor floating around that LFD is releasing a Small Batch 3 around June, any truth to this?

  6. The Small Batch 3 should be out this year, but I don't know what month. The Tatuaje Cojonu 2009 should be hitting the street in March and Pete J. is also working on a new vintage puro blend to be released in 2010 - all the tobacco for the cigar is from the same crop and farm.

  7. Thank you consiglieri. The Tatuaje puro should be very interesting, as the line is a staple in many peoples collections!

  11. I heard you say that Cuban cigars are the best. I guess I've heard most everyone say that. I am sure its also a matter of taste. So at what point does a Dominican taste better than a Cuban? Are there cheap Cubans and premo non-Cubans that would be preferred?

  12. In my opinion Cubans are good cigars and among the best but you can find incredible cigars from other countries as well such as Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

  13. The simple adage of "smoke what YOU like" says it all. Too many people smoke cigars they think they are supposed to like becuase it is Cuban, expensive, etc. The issue with Cuban cigars is very complex. Are there some good ones, yes. But there are ones that are not so good. More importantly, Cuba, more than any other country I've seen, has more quality control, construction and plugging problems; although they have gotten better over the years after the low point in late 2001 and 2002. My top 15 cigars, maybe more, are all non-Cuban cigars. As podman siad, other countries are making some great products and to me, far superior to Cubans. But, price point and availability is also a huge factor. To some, a Padron 80th is one of the greatest cigars out there right now - but it is $30. There are not too many Cuban cigars out there (regional, limited and special editions aside) that are $30. So it isn't reall comparing apples to apples. A buddy of mine loves Cuban cigars becuase they are a better value to him in the $8-12 range. He doesn't think many non-premium, non-Cuban cigars in that price range compete with Cuban cigars in this range. As you can see, this could be discussed for pages of text, but in short the best cigar out there is the one you like the best.
