Cigars and Beverages

When you smoke a cigar, what do enjoy to drink with it?

Feel free to discuss favorite pairings you've had.

  1. The Anejo seems to pair very well with a cup of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, however I must state that my taste for coffee is very strong and black! Opus does very well with iced black coffee from McDonalds!

  2. Zaya rum seems to pair very well with maduro cigars. I especially liked it with the Vengeance Maduro Ligero. I also had a suprisingly good matching of a Grayfcliff Double Expresso with a very spicy bloody mary. The Graycliff took on some very dark, creamy qualities that offset the spice of the drink.

  3. It's no secret that I would attempt to dance on my head for a glass of Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch. Simply put, this scotch is smooth. And with an Arturo Fuente King B, makes it one of my favorite pairings. The smooth and complex nature of the scotch, appears to balance the flavor of the King B. But the Balvenie 12 Year Old has that effect on most cigars.

  4. Podman advised of a tasty little Guatamalan treat, called Ron Zacapa 23. Great matched with a LG Chisel Puro. I also enjoyed the pairing of a 2006 GOF Robusto and a glass of 2005 Robert Mondavi Reserve. Happy B-Day Week Podman!!

  6. Being a rookie at knowing good ciagrs makes a pairing difficult. For example, I would pair a grenadier cigar with a Miller Lite; a far cry from the combinations posted above.

  7. I do not smoke and cannot comment on a good pairing. All I know is that some people that I work with pair up there cigars (not sure what type) with an ice cold beer of there liking. Seems like you have a nice thread going here. I wish you luck on your Blog and in the future.

  8. Give me scotch or give me death. The guy who posted about the Balvenie knows his scotch. One of my favorites also.

  9. Well, I'm not sure if I'm quite of age to really appreciate good scotch; however I bought a bottle of 14 year old Oban and have been drinking that lately with only opus or if I can't find anything to take a shot of, I am a college student after all:) Also I was turned onto a certain rum by a certain consiglieri, captain morgans private stock, I'm not quite sure what it compliments, but it tastes wonderful. On another note, I cracked open a case of Sioux City Sarsaparilla, this root beer was perfect with the sweetness of a good maduro.
Hey I wanna say hi to all of you and hope you're all doing well! I miss you all and I'll be back in 2 months! I'm sure I'll talk to you all soon!

  10. I don't drink coffee, wine or beer so that pretty much narrows my list down to water, scotch, bourbon and rum!

Here are some poairings I enjoy although almost any of the combinations work well.

Opus X - Balvenie 12, JW Gold or Basil Hayden
Anejo - Zaya Rum or George T. Stagg Bourbon
Padron - Zaya or Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon
LFD Coronado lancero - JW Gold
Cabaiguan Guapos 46 - Basil Hayden

While the Captain Morgan's Private Stock can be a bit sweet, during the summer when I am in the mood for a refreshing, light drink, a cool one really does hit the spot every time!
